Transience
The speed with which all of them vanish — the objects in the world, and the memory of them in time.
-Marcus Aurelius (180 AD)
Strange how strong the instinct is to see something and reach for a camera, but I no longer feel compelled to freeze-frame objects in time. Indeed, I no longer believe in stable entities or time; instead, I see phenomena in flux, transition, entropic flow. My current images help me contemplate the fleeting essence of human experience. While making these pictures, and viewing them upon completion, they remind me to reach for the camera less often, take a deep breath, and choose to experience the present moment nakedly, with greater intimacy.
