February, 2006

Published online;... Painting, Photography, Miscellany ...by Stephen Locke

The archway in the series above is illuminated by the warm January sun. Normally, 'warm January sun' would

be a contradiction in terms but with daytime highs in the sixties, January 2006 goes down

in my book as the warmest ever. It is balmy throughout the Midwest, in Montana the Buttercups

are breaking records by blooming mid-winter.

Here in Kansas City, the weather is perfect for taking a Sunday stroll.

Have you walked downtown Kansas City lately?

Wow, what a beautiful city. I can remember when it was scary to go downtown . . . not anymore.

Today, downtown is viable. If you are not yet married with children downtown is the place to live.

As the lofts are renovated, people take residence, the city experiences a renaissance.

I made these pictures on a quiet Sunday as downtown business was taking

the day off. I invite you to see them leisurely . . .

. . . you can almost feel the warm January sun.
